All About Kankakee High School
Kankakee High School serves students in grades 9–12 and offers a wide range of courses in mathematics, English, social science, science, technology, applied science, and foreign language, including Honors and Advanced Placement (AP) classes.
KHS is committed to continuous improvement, focusing on increasing student achievement in mathematics and reading, improving behavior, and raising graduation rates. To support this, we conduct school-wide testing for freshmen, sophomores, and juniors, including PLAN, ACT practice, ACT, and WorkKeys assessments, while seniors use testing days for college visits. Regular Performance Series testing is also used to guide instruction and support student growth. KHS also offers a Credit Recovery program using the PLATO online system for students needing to make up courses.
Students have access to a variety of electives, athletics, clubs, and extracurricular activities. The campus includes the Athletics Department, Kays Stadium, a Community Center, and a health clinic, providing a well-rounded experience that supports both academic and personal growth.
